Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds with PJ Harvey - Henry Lee (‘White Room’ 1996)

This song is weaving through me at the moment…

PJ Harvey - Beautiful Feeling
Sometimes I can see for miles
Through water and fire
From England to America
I feel life meet my eyes
And it’s the best thing
A beautiful feeling
A smile from San Diego
He is still a boy
Two ends to every rainbow
And a train from Mexico
But he’s the best thing
A beautiful feeling
And when I watch you move
And I can’t think straight
And I am silenced
And I can’t think straight
It’s the best thing
Such a beautiful feeling
“In My Time Of Need” by Opeth
I can’t see the meaning of this life I’m leading
I try to forget you as you forgot me
This time there is nothing left for you to take, this is goodbye
Summer is miles and miles away, and no one would ask me to stay
And I, should contemplate this change to ease the pain.
And I, should step out of the rain, turn away.
Close to ending it all
I am drifting through the stages of the rapture born within this loss
Thoughts of death inside, tear me apart from the core of my soul
Summer is miles and miles away, and no one would ask me to stay
And I, should contemplate this change, to ease the pain.
And I, should step out of the rain, turn away.
At times, the dark’s fading slowly, but it never sustains.
Would someone watch over me, In my time of need?
Summer is miles and miles away, and no one would ask me to stay
And I, should contemplate this change, to ease the pain.
And I, should step out of the rain, turn away…
There are times when I wish I didn’t understand this song so well…
I have Neko Case songs echoing in my head at the moment. This one is my favorite of hers, and one of my favorite songs to sing. :-)
~~~
Dirty Knife by Neko Case
So suddenly the madness came
With it’s whiskered, wolven, ether pangs
He locked the door, And he shut the blinds
He laid down on the floor and he slept like iron
While the dirty knife bore deep, Into his spine
The blood runs crazy
The blood runs crazy
Cascading letters pool on the stairs
The grass is high, the cats are wild
You can’t even touch the tip of their tails
And the blood runs crazy with giant strides
He sang nursery rhymes to paralyze
The wolves that Eddy out the corner of his eyes
But they squared him frozen where he stood
In the glow of the furniture piled high for firewood
And the blood runs crazy with giant strides
And the woodsman failed to breech those fangs in time
So they dragged him through the underbrush
Wearing three winter coats and a dirty knife…
(Ukrainian Lyric)
krichit shaleno, strekoche zubami {He shouts very loudly, grinding his teeth}
La la la la, la la la la
krichit shaleno, strekoche zubami
La la la la, la la la la
We have been treated to a taste of what the forthcoming Steven Wilson live DVD ‘Get All You Deserve’ will be like in the form of “Harmony Korine”. :-) Please do watch as it is absolutely incredible! (Pre-order the limited deluxe edition, which includes the concert on CD as well as Blu-Ray and a DVD size hard-back book, HERE.)
On a more personal note…
For me, this song is a very pivotal and important part of my ongoing personal evolution. It’s embedded in my soul, along with all that I’ve experienced in conjunction with it, and will always be part of me. I hope that something deep in you is touched by it, too. :-)
If you can, be sure to make it out to see Steven Wilson live on the second leg of his Grace For Drowning solo tour. It truly is the most amazing show I have ever experienced, so please do go check it out. It’s not your typical live show! :-) (And enjoy yourself for me as I am only able to be present in spirit this time around. :-))
I have just discovered this wonderfully gorgeous song via the Electronic Music, 70s - Present group on Facebook. The emotions swelling inside… I love being moved like this! The info on the video is as follows:
Title : Moonlight
Band : Mono
Album : You Are There(2006)
MySpace : http://www.myspace.com/monojp
Websites : http://www.mono-jpn.com/
http://www.lastfm.jp/music/Mono
It seems that, after the UK band Mono broke up (listen to the audio of their hit song “Life In Mono” HERE), a Japanese band took up the name (their website has moved, find it HERE). I just listened to their track “Ashes In The Snow” from their album ‘Hymn To The Immortal Wind’ via their MySpace page and, yes, I love it, too. I must have these albums!
“Moonlight” is epic and wonderful. Please do take a listen. :-)
David Gilmour joining Roger Waters on The Wall to perform ‘Comfortably Numb’ at London’s O2, May, 2011.
In honor of his 66th birthday, I just had to post video of David Gilmour playing one of the greatest guitar solos of all time. :-)
Happy Birthday, Mr. Gilmour!
Are you in need of a grin today? Watch this adorable video. How can you not grin at a dog ‘singing’ and playing piano?
EDIT 10th March 2012: Unfortunately, this adorable video has been removed by the user. :-/
Despite the fact that the band was created for television, I still loved The Monkees and watched all the repeats when I was a kid.
Davy Jones was my favorite back then, and hearing about his death today does have me a little sad. In honor of him, here is the classic video for “Daydream Believer”.
RIP Davy. Miss you already…
IAMAMIWHOAMI - “Drops”
I eagerly anticipate June when I may own the album. I’ve got to hear all of this wonderful music in my headphones…
